AVON Walk for Breast Cancer + Blog Train

I’ve committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. It’s a big commitment, one that will require me to spend the next several months training and fundraising. But breast cancer is a big disease, one that still affects far too many people, and I’m determined to do everything I can to help put an end to it. The money I raise will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those that most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures. I’ll be just one of thousands of people that will walk up to a marathon and a half over a weekend, raising awareness of the cause and educating even more people.

My inspiration for walking

My grandmother, who we called "Meeko," passed away in December of 2004 of breast cancer and my sister and I would like nothing more than to walk in her honor. She was an amazing woman and lit up the room with her smile. I miss her dearly and only regret not getting to know her better and if she were here today I would ask her so many questions and listen to all her stories. I only wish she was here to see her great grandbabies although I know she is watching over them from heaven. Meeko, we love and miss you. Mimi and I are going to walk that marathon for you in hopes that our fund raising efforts can help make a difference in preventing, treating, and ultimately finding a cure for breast cancer in others.

I have committed to raise at least $1,800 for this cause and I can’t do it without your help. If you would like to see my personal Avon Walk page or make a donation, click here.
